No Equipment Workout Science – Tabatas

Alright, if you’re looking for a full-body workout that requires no equipment and will leave you feeling like you just got hit by a truck, then Tabatas are the way to go.

Tabatas are a type of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) that are short and sweet. Each round consists of 20 seconds of all-out effort, followed by 10 seconds of rest, and you repeat this cycle for 8 rounds.

That’s it.

But don’t let the simplicity fool you, Tabatas are no joke. They are intense, and they will leave you gasping for air. But that’s the point. The intensity is what makes Tabatas so effective.

When you train intense, you activate stress hormones like adrenaline and testosterone.

These hormones help you build muscle and burn fat. And you’ll be burning fat with Tabatas.

The key to tabatas is intensity.

Since you don’t have heavy weights to create stress on your body, you gotta play with intensity.

Push yourself as hard as you can during those 20 seconds, and you’ll activate those stress hormones that lead to muscle growth.

Tabatas are great because they can be done with any exercise. You can do Tabatas with bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups, and lunges. Or you can do Tabatas with cardio exercises like jumping jacks or burpees. The options are endless.
